The advent of the AI-based chatbot ChatGPT has fired a race between the tech giants. The competition has intensified as to who will take the crown as the leader in the AI race.

Tech companies like Meta, Microsoft, and Google in particular are in an open competition.

Google having the edge of massive databases and a previously experienced player in using AI in its products, wants to take the lead. Google has been investing a massive chunk of resources to develop a multimodal AI-based model that can compete with the current leader ChatGPT.

Gemini vs ChatGPT

Today, we have Gemini: a product from Alphabet’s AI lab DeepMind. Gemini is that AI model that offers multimodality as it can process the inputs in diversified forms like text, audio, and images.

Google’s Bard (AI chatbot) will be using the multimodality of Gemini. The tech company claims that this model has improved Bard and now, it’s better than the leading chatbot Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (ChatGPT). The claims are one thing, performance is another.

Is it really better than ChatGPT? We are going dive right into the differences between Google’s nascent but claimed-to-be powerful Gemini and ChatGPT.

ChatGPT vs Gemini: The Performance

Gemini by Google is a powerful AI model that boasts the capability of interpreting inputs in multiple forms. The model can solve complex scientific problems ranging from mathematics to physics. Not only that, but being able to use a huge database allows it to resolve queries related to law, medicine, and history among others.

It is an efficient AI model that responds swiftly. The response rate can fluctuate if your bandwidth is weak. To fully utilize its cutting-edge capabilities, make sure to use a blazing-fast Windstream Internet

The Ultra model of Gemini takes down ChatGPT 4 according to the benchmarks. However, the actual performance may vary from person to person.

On the flip side, ChatGPT has improved a lot since its first model ChatGPT 1.0. They know what they are doing and their model is fairly powerful when it comes to giving out results with accuracy.

The thing that ChatGPT lacks is the inability to effectively process inputs in multiple forms.

Gemini-powered Bard can process audio, videos, texts, and images among others. So, on paper, Gemini is better in performance than ChatGPT.

ChatGPT vs Gemini: The Features

Let’s throw some light on the features that Gemini can offer:

• It has three variants Ultra, Pro, and Nano. Each of them has distinguished strengths with the Ultra being the most powerful

• Not yet but in the future Google plans to provide Gemini in consumer application through its cloud services

• It can be accessed through its integration with Google’s chatbot Bard

• Last but not least, it has a wider application because of its multimodal nature

On the other hand, ChatGPT offers these features to its consumers:

• The 4th version that is ChatGPT-4 is the most powerful natural language AI model that is used as a benchmark for other models like the Gemini

• Being proficient in comprehending the natural language it can offer multiple applications ranging from customer service to problem solving

ChatGPT vs Gemini: The Accuracy and Compliance

It’s been a while since people have been using ChatGPT. So, we have enough data to establish an argument here.

ChatGPT, sometimes, provides outputs that are a little biased. However, the parent company OpenAI has improved the responses. The company is focused on reducing it further but still, there’s a lot of work that’s needed to be done.

On the flip side, we don’t have enough data for Gemini. It is claimed to eliminate through and through any bias or results that may harm the readers keeping it under safety compliance.

Google, also, is in collaboration with other organizations to make Gemini safer and accurate to use.

Elaborating the Models of Gemini

The Ultra: “Current state-of-the-art results on 30 of the 32 widely-used academic benchmarks used in large language model (LLM) research and development.” These are the remarks from Google’s executives on Gemini specifically its Ultra variant. The Ultra version is not yet publicly available but it has been built to solve intricate problems within seconds.

The Pro: This version of Gemini is designed to solve complex problems related to daily life. It will be available for the Bard (chatbot) and can be used on a mobile phone.

Gemini Nano: This is the lightest version of the Gemini. It can be used to respond to rather less complicated queries but quickly. It is designed to be used in handheld devices like tablets and mobile phones.

Bottom Line:

Bard, from a smaller time frame of use, can be termed as better than the ChatGPT. But with the race ongoing and more issues that are yet to be unearthed can distort Gemini’s position as the best AI natural language model.
